Our dream of reaching all corners of campus is happening!
— Katie, 2nd year PhD student

Campuses Renewed

Katie (pictured below) could not contain her excitement so she shot a quick email about what she had just witnessed, which your partnership made possible. Katie is one of our leaders, a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Statistics, and she coordinates our small groups. She was missional coming into grad school but even she was surprised by what she was observing.

“Keep doing what y’all are doing because it sounds like you’re doing important things.”
– Sara, Student Body President

Katie was talking with a group of Ph.D. students in her department, all of whom are non-Christians, when one of them mentioned that they had seen info for one of our bridge building events go out over a secular groups’ email list (this one was with the LGBTQ+ group on campus). They were thrilled to see Christians lovingly engaging with groups they potentially disagreed with.

Then another student, Sara, an ethnic minority and president of the graduate student body, was impressed to hear Abi, a 1st year Ph.D. student, appreciate the intentionality and grace in our small group study on gospel racial reconciliation. In reflecting on all of this, she said, “keep doing what y’all are doing because it sounds like you’re doing important things.” She also offered extra funding from the student body to help cover the costs of some of these events!

“People who I’ve never talked to about Christianity or GCF [Graduate Christian Fellowship] are finding out about what we’re doing and are refreshed to see it - Praise God!” - Katie

Katie has been faithful in reaching out to her department but even she was surprised to see this reaction. Indeed, almost everyone in her year has come to one of our events! For example, Rita, an international Katie has been praying for, expressed how the faith and science event we hosted (pictured above) made her more open to faith as she resonated with the idea of gospel humility and confidence in these and other difficult conversations. And we’ve regularly had 4 to 6 students from her department joining us weekly for lunch. But to see others becoming open to faith who she hasn’t even had the opportunity yet to talk to about faith, that’s something else entirely. According to Katie:

“Our dream of reaching all corners of campus is happening!”
